Between school, chores and socialising, it seems like there’s just no time to focus on keeping your body healthy. These easy tricks and tips will sort you out...

Sweat it out
Exercising gives you energy and clears your mind. If running and jogging are not your thing, try power walking. This means going on a fast-paced walk for at least 20 minutes. Remember to do what your body can manage. Avoid dark, unlit streets, abandoned places like a veld or using school and community facilities when there’s no one around.

Make sleep a priority
Getting 7 to 8 hours of sleep will improve your memory, refresh your mind and give your brain time to switch off and rest.

Eat well
Food gives your body the nutrients it needs to grow strong, like vitamins. You get them in fruits and vegetables. If your family can’t afford to buy vegetables every day, you can grow spinach and cabbage in your backyard. Avoid sugary and fatty foods.

Listen to your body
Ever had a toothache that won’t go away, or a headache or a stomach cramp that seems to last all day. Your body has many ways of telling you if there’s something wrong. If you keep experiencing pain and discomfort, it might be time to see a doctor or go to the clinic for a check-up. Don’t wait before the pain gets worse before getting help.

Slow down
Don’t take on too many activities all at once. Have a timetable of what to do, and when. For instance, instead of trying to do your school work, chores, swim and play netball every day, you can swim on Mondays and Thursday, and play netball on Tuesdays and Fridays.

You aren't alone. Many girls are unhappy with the weight or would change at least one thing about their bodies. I think you shouldn't get a dress that you try and change your body to fit into and that you should rather get a dress that fits you. You're beautiful either way. Losing weight requires a change of your lifestyle so I would recommend you drink more water, at least 8 glasses (2 litres) a day. Also try exercise, maybe you and a couple of girls can start jogging together. Eat more fruits and veggies and trying eating smaller portions of food.

Hey Springster. Thank you for being a part of the team. It's advisable that you drink two litres of water a day. That's 8 glasses. Maybe try drinking one every hour so you can stay hydrated.

I think I am too fat and I want to lose weight .But I just keep on craving fatty foods and I don't know why and I can't jog alone because around our town it's not safe but sometimes I do power walks just around where I live but because I want to be fit I muat beat it.I have always wanted to have that model body everyone envies so I will have to do it I guess.What do you suggest I do about my situation?

Most teens feel self-conscious about their bodies. The secret to losing weight quickly and safely is not really a secret: eat less and move more! These aren't hard things to do on their own, but they are hard to do consistently. Whenever you get discouraged, remember that millions of people just like you have been in this position. Stick to iy and you'll eventually lose the weight you want to. You should also drink at least 2 litres of water a day and decrease sugar intake.

Hi Springster, sweating is your body telling you that you need to cool down. I suggest you hydrate more often by drinking water and use a stronger antiperspirant to combat excessive sweating. If that doesn't work then maybe you should consult your nearest clinic or doctor for assistance. Good luck.

eat your breakfast, lunch and supper.avoid hot beverages eat food like chicken, fish, samp, brown bread, liver, rice macaroni and do your cardio exercises. everyday that'll help you build a ferm muscular body.

Being healthy is not about going on a diet, which can harm your health. Rather make lifestyle changes like eating more fruits and vegetables and limiting the amount of fatty and sugary food you eat. Start exercising, even if it’s taking a walk with friends three times a week. We hope this helps you.
